It actually sounds like there's a piece of plastic muffling the TV speakers, which is not just annoying, it's perplexing. Why build an "eco" green TV that's just going to end up in a landfill with the rest of the trash? Should have waited. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the sound is barely adequate, and that's if it's being viewed without any outside noise interference at all. An electric fan can drown it out. The picture is good. No complaints there. Reliability is terrible. Sometimes when the power is turned on no picture will appear. The unit needs to be unplugged for several seconds, then retried. This sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes the volume and mute function can be controlled by the remote; sometimes not. Sometimes adjusting the volume results in the TV turning itself off. The sales associate at Target confirmed that they have had numerous complaints and returns of this model, and suggested that I exchange it for a different brand. If the model I had purchased functioned at its best consistently, I would give it three stars. Due to reliability issues, one star... It is also light weight. My issue is the volume. Even with the TV on full blast it was barely audible! I called westinghouse and they said for me to buy a home theater sound system. Uh, I just bought a brand new tv, should i not be able to HEAR IT without a sound system? It is packed up in the box and being returned today. If you already have a home theater sound system, then this tv might be fine for you; but if you don't have one, i would not recommend it as you won't be able to hear the tv!! The adjustable shelf is attached by screws, and I realized after I put it in that my Wii was too tall to fit on the space I left. So you should definitely buy it, but measure your components before you screw in the shelves. It was pretty easy to fix though, so no worries. It is designed to work with the big DLP Mitsubishi HDTVs, so don't buy this unless you are planning to use it with one of those. It is set up to lock into the bottom of the TV and hold it down. This review is from: Mitsubishi MB-S73A Base for WD-73C9, WD-73837 Models (Electronics) The stand arrived in a large box, because it's fully assembled (for the most part). All you have to do is mount the horizontal bar (to support the adjustable shelf), screw in a couple of support brackets for the horizontal bar, and put the shelf on the bar. That's it. This took just a couple of minutes to do. Overall, the fit and finish is excellent, and the build quality is excellent too. However, it's rather expensive for what it's worth. $400 dollars for a TV stand seems high (and $500 that some retailers are charging for it is simply ridiculous). Nevertheless, I'm very happy with it, especially since it's custom made for Mitsubishi DLP TVs; and was, for all intents and purposes, fully assembled (plus shipping was free...that could be upwards of $50-100 right there). I highly recommend this as a good investment for the Mitsubishi 73" home theater TV's that this stand was designed for. Besides, if you consider all the other stands out there, I found it rather... Otherwise, you can probably get just as nice or nicer a stand for the same money or less. The stand matches up with the TVs width perfectly though so it fits into the wall cutout perfectly. And it has enough space for the Cable Box, Receiver, PS3, Xbox, 360, Wii, and Center channel speaker.
